About Us

From around 2003 Gillie Johnson, an experienced voluntary sector manager and consultant, began to host meetings of like-minded consultants in her flat in the Pullens Buildings in Kennington. This was a very informal network of people who had shared values and a fundamental belief in and commitment to the VCS. Coming together allowed those involved to share experiences, learn from and support each other and spot emerging trends and needs.

Over the years, membership of the group has evolved, with some moving on and some joining, but it is still built around the same core, shared values and the desire to add extra value by working and learning together. The group outgrew Gillie’s flat some time ago and now meets at various locations, but always under the flag of the Pullens Group.

Sadly, Gillie died of cancer in 2010, but we continue to work and learn together and keep the name of the Pullens Group as a memory to our much loved and greatly admired founder.

Consultants currently involved in the Pullens Group are:

Eric Appleby
Mary Carter
Alan Cripps
Kevin Ireland
Jan King
Margaret Malcolm
